If you are helping to run a Math-A-thon for your school or organization, you have the opportunity to make a significant impact on how students view your event and math in general. Math-A-Thon can be more than just fundraisers \u2014 they can give students a chance to develop a positive attitude toward math and practice it without the pressures of homework or tests. In the end, it’s up to the kids to decide whether they want to participate in your event. However, two of the biggest decisions that will affect its success are the rewards and incentives you offer, and your marketing strategy. We’ve written extensively about the fundraiser reward systems we recommend<\/a>, and below are sample emails that you can send before, during, and after your event to encourage participation, build excitement, and raise funds.<\/p>\n

Note: These emails assume your event will be held in the summer over a 2-week period, with an ice cream party awarded to any grade that collectively solves 5,000 problems. Your event may differ, so you may need to tweak the emails to suit your needs.<\/em>

1 Week Before School Ends<\/h2>\n

If you are hosting a Math-A-Thon over the summer, you should send at least one email before the school year ends to build anticipation and encourage early signups. Parents and students can print math worksheets before the event begins, giving students a chance to get ahead and stay occupied during long road trips.<\/p>\n
