A fraction is made up of two parts: a numerator (the top number) and a denominator (the bottom number). On a number line, the denominator tells us how many equal parts the whole (from 0 to 1) is divided into. The numerator tells us how many of those parts we count from 0.For example, if we want to locate 4/5 on a number line
First, look at the denominator (5). Divide the distance between 0 and 1 into 5 equal parts.
Next, look at the numerator (4). Starting at 0, count 4 of those equal parts.
