Privacy Policy for Mobile Applications

Introduction
On The Vine Media, LLC ("ForOurSchool.org", "Company", "we", "us", or "our") provides this privacy policy to explain how we collect, use, and protect information through our mobile applications (the "Apps") on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
The Apps are designed as companion utilities to the ForOurSchool.org website. Please note: The Apps do not allow for account creation, donation processing, or administrator management. These actions must be performed by a Parent, Guardian, or Administrator via our secure website.
Information Collection and Use
We collect the minimum amount of data necessary to provide a functional and engaging educational experience for students.
  • Read-A-Thon Data: We collect reading minutes, session notes ("Activity Log Notes"), and stopwatch data to track progress toward reading goals.
  • Math-A-Thon Data: We collect student answers to math problems, which consist exclusively of integer values or mutliple-choice selections. This data is used solely to calculate session scores and math goal progress.
  • Leaderboard Data: If enabled by the school, student progress (using the first name and last initial) may be displayed on a leaderboard within the App.
  • Authentication: The Apps use existing credentials created by a Parent on our website. We do not collect additional registration data within the App.
  • Biometrics: Users may choose to use local Biometric Authentication (FaceID/TouchID) for secure login. This data is processed entirely by the device's Secure Enclave; we never access, store, or transmit biometric data.
No Third-Party Analytics or Advertising
To ensure the highest level of student privacy and compliance with the Apple App Store Kids
  • No Third-Party Analytics: We do not use Firebase, Google Analytics, or any other third-party tracking SDKs. Performance and stability monitoring are handled exclusively through Apple's native MetricKit and OSLog frameworks, which process diagnostic data on-device or via Apple’s secure infrastructure.
  • No Third-Party Advertising: The Apps contain no advertising, and no data is shared with third-party advertisers or data brokers.
Children’s Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Our Apps are intended for use by students, including those under the age of 13.
  • Parental Control: Accounts must be created by a Parent or Guardian on our website.
  • No Personal Contact: We do not collect student email addresses, phone numbers, or location data within the Apps.
  • Data Minimization: We only collect the "Student Profile" data (First name, optional last initial) provided by the parent during registration.
Data Retention and Deletion
We follow strict data minimiztion and deletion protocols::
  • Anonymization: Within 3 months of a fundraiser’s conclusion, student names are anonymized.
  • Permanent Deletion: Reading notes are permanently deleted after the event summary period.
  • User-Initiated Requests: In compliance with App Store guidelines, parents may initiate the deletion of a student profile directly within the App Settings (protected by a Parental Gate). This action sends a secure request to our servers to permanently remove the associated student data.
Security
We prioritize the security of student data. All data transmitted between the App and our servers is encrypted via SSL/TLS. Access to our databases is strictly controlled and limited to essential personnel.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
