When solving an equation with multiple operators, you should remember the acronym PEMDAS, which stands for Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication & Division (from left to right), Addition & Subtration (from left to right) to help you determine the order to solve the equation
For example, in the equation 20 - 3 * 4 + 3
- The operators in the equation are subtraction, addition, and multiplication
- Multiplication comes before Addition & Subtraction so solve that part of the equation first (20 - 12 + 3)
- Addition & subtraction operators are solved in the order they appear from left to right (8 + 3 = 5)
