When finding the missing number in an addition equation, it can be helpful to use the arrow method to grow the given number to the whole number in chunks, so the missing part of the whole number can be more easily identified
For example, if we have 50 + ? = 325
- Grow 50 by +50 (=100)
- Grow 100 by +200 (=300)
- Grow 300 by +25 (=325)
- Add the growth arrows of 50, 200, and 25 (=275)
