When adding minutes to time, start by placing the minute value of the time on a number line that goes from 0 to 59. Move right on the number line for each minute you are adding and when you pass 59, go back to 0 and add 1 hour to the time
For example, if you are adding 20 minutes to 3:50
- Start at 50 on the number line
- Move 10 spots to the right so you pass 59
- Go back to 0 and add 1 to the hour
- Move right the remaining 10 spots
- 20 minutes after 3:50 is 4:10
